Check Out The Croasdaile Podcast!
Have you heard the news? Croasdaile Village has a podcast! Hosted by charismatic Croasdaile resident Jim Hastings and produced and directed by Craig Lloyd, our Director of Communications, The Croasdaile Podcast interviews various residents and staff at Croasdaile Village, giving listeners an inside look at the mosaic of individuals who make up our community.
Episodes are available to the public on the Croasdaile Village YouTube page, as well as on the resident-only portal for community members.
Want an inside look? We got the chance to chat with podcast host Jim Hastings for an exclusive look behind the show:
Hi Jim! What inspired you to start the Croasdaile Podcast?
I was inspired by Craig Lloyd (he is the Director of Communications). He asked me if I would be interested in a podcast. He was looking for someone to do all the talking! It turns out that he does all the video, editing, and sound work. I just get to ask the questions.
When did you join the Croasdaile Village community?
We are approaching the 11-year anniversary of Barbara and me moving into Croasdaile Village!
How do you prepare for the interviews? How much of the questions are prepared ahead of time, and how much is inspired by the moment?
I have 3 basic questions: What is your history? Why did you pick Croasdaile Village? And how are you involved in Croasdaile? It is really interesting with the replies to question #1. Some folks give a very brief summary of their work life, while others give all the dates and places where they worked. You never know how they are going to answer. Sometimes it is less than 10 minutes, and others will talk for 30 minutes. It is great that we don’t have commercials!
Any fun behind-the-scenes moments you can share?
We do the videos in The Nook that is located next to The Village Bistro… most of the interviews are in front of a fireplace. The fireplace doesn’t put out any heat, so if you are cold when you arrive, you will be cold when you leave.
You can always count on Jim to bring out the fun story in everyone! Check out some of the episodes below, and visit our YouTube page to watch them all.
